Summer Movies

It's been a while since I posted but that doesn't mean I hadn't gone to any new movies. What can I say, I LOVE movies and just can't get enough. There have been a lot of good movies lately. Here are the ones I have seen up tell now:

I was paid to go to this movie!!! Seriously, we went for my work summer party, and we got paid! It was awesome. When I first heard we were going to see this movie, I wasn't entirely sure how I would like it. Jake Gyllenhall is hot and all, but I just couldn't get past the gay movie he did, "Broke Back Mountain." At the beginning his character does this jump in slow motion as he pulls out his swords, and I was just like, "oh great. So this is what I'm in for." However, as the story went on, I ended up liking him and thinking he did a good job. I didn't LOVE the ending, but overall it was a good action movie!

I give this movie 3 stars!

It's been a while since I've seen this movie, so I've kind of forgotten certain details of it. But I remember definitely liking it. It was a good action movie, but I think I liked the first one a little more.
I give it 3 stars!

I had heard that this movie was good before I watched it, so my expectations of it were a little high, which can sometimes work against me. I knew it was going to be a little weird, but that was almost expected. I think Johnny Depp did a great job at being the mad hatter, but the story just wasn't strong enough for me. I felt like it was just skimming the top, and then ended all of a sudden. I didn't really like it.
I give it 1 1/2 stars!

I watched this movie at a girls night party at my parents house. It was a lot of fun. It's about a girl who decides she is going to purpose to her long time boyfriend on Leap Year while he is in Scotland for business. I guess it is a tradition in Scotland for women to purpose on that day. She travels out there to meet with him, but fate takes her on a different course where she meets "Declan," a Scottish man. I know... we all know where this is going right? It was a cute story, but I felt like I couldn't believe these two characters could fall in love. There was just something missing...
I give it 2 1/2 stars!

What can I say? Weren't we all waiting for this movie to come out?! I'm a sucker for Toy Story and I just knew I would love this one too. The story was so creative and it makes you laugh out loud. Ken was personally my favorite! :) Some of you already know, and have even made fun of me for it, but I totally cried at this movie. GO SEE IT!! It's good.
I give it 4 stars!

Want to know something pathetic? I've seen this movie 4 times in theater already. Lol. LOVE IT!!! I think the Twilight movies are getting better as they go, so for those of you who can't stand the cheesiness, don't give up on them yet. This one is really good!! And Edward is super cute! :) I can't wait to see this with my little sister when she gets back from her mission.
I give it 3 1/2 stars!

Okay, this movie was soooo good! It's action packed and twists your brain in all sorts of ways that you'll be thinking about it even days after seeing it. I thought the plot was so creative! At first when I saw Joseph Gordan- Levitt (from 500 days of summer) and Ellen Page (from Juno) in this movie with Leonardo Dicaprio, I was a little nervous because these two seem kind of young in their acting career compared to Leo. But they both did a great job, and I believe they are becoming rising stars.
I give this movie 4 totally awesome stars!!!

And last, but not least, I just recently saw this movie at my house and loved it! It is based on a true story of Queen Victoria who took the throne at age 18 years old! She was the first Queen to live in Buckingham palace, and it shows her through her trails and triumphs of being a young ruler. The love story is really cute, but I wouldn't really consider this movie a chick flick. The only thing that was hard for me to follow was the history and the intentions of certain people. But try not to worry so much about the people and just pay attention to the story and the relationships within. This is a good movie for guys, girls, and even the family, because it's only PG and it's currently at Red Box! SO, GO GET IT NOW WHILE IT'S CHEAP!
I give this movie 3 stars!

So there you have it. All the movies I've seen so far for the summer. Hopefully that gives you a little insight on what you want to see, or what your willing to pay for.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Remember Me

I wont go into a lot of detail about this movie, but It's about a boy who is a little "lost" in life and how he meets a girl who helps him see life a little differently. Your typical chick flick right?? Wrong. I remember when I saw the previews to this movie I thought it was going to be a chick flick, but its actually more of a Drama. I think I would have liked it a little better going into it if I would have known that. I thought some parts of it was a little too dramatic, but overall it was a pretty good movie that takes you from high to low and makes you think. But just to warn you, there is some swearing, sex, and drugs, so if that bothers you, then maybe this movie might be a little much for you... So after much thinking, I have decided to give it 3 stars!

Date Night

Thursday night Todd and I decided to go on a date, so we decided to go see the movie Date Night. (Perfect combination right?) We hadn't heard much about this movie but we both like Tina Fey and Steve Carell, so our expectations were kind of high going into it. The movie started off really good. Something I like about a movie is if the actors become believable in their rolls. And I think they did a good job with that in the beginning, but it seemed like once they start getting into trouble, I lost that connection and it seemed to me like they were trying a little too hard to be funny when they weren't. Don't get me wrong, it was a funny movie, and definitely had its laugh out loud lines, but towards the end it turned a little more crude than I would have liked or expected. The ending got a little awkward and strong with some sexual content. I mean, I knew it wasn't going to be a family movie, but apart of me wished it was more like what we see Tina Fey and Steve Carell as on television. Anyways, it was okay. Overall, i would give it a 2 1/2 out of 4 stars.

Last night I watched the movie Titanic directed by James Cameron. I know its not a new movie, but it relates to something I'll be talking about later. But real quick, Titanic. If you've seen this movie than you know how incredible it is. It is no surprise to me that it won so many movie awards as it did. After the movie, I watched "behind the scenes" and I was just amazed with how much work goes into making such a movie like this. Some people may not like this movie, but I think part of the reason why I like this movie so much is because its based off of a true tragic event. I think the movie does a great job in bringing you back and making you realize what it may have been like when the Titanic sank. Its so tragic and so sad, and was totally preventable. I find that this is a moving movie from beginning to end- even if there is a few mussy parts I could do without, I loved it! There's just something to say about movies and how they communicate visually to you, and that's really why I love movies! James Cameron is an amazing director and he shows that again and again. Which brings me to my next movie.

Avatar.

For those of you who may not have seen Avatar NEED TOO! I don't know about you, but I'm the kind of person where if something becomes really big and popular, I draw away from it, and I don't really care to be apart of it. For example, when everyone read the Harry Potter books and were obsessed, I didn't want to read them just because everyone else was. It was the same thing with Avatar. I heard so much hype about it, I didn't care to see it. I've experienced in the past that when something becomes hyped up, it can disappoint you in the end, so I thought for sure I would not like this movie. But I was wrong.

I couldn't believe the creativity of this movie! James Cameron seriously did an astounding job! I have heard from some people that this movie was a mix of Fern Gully and Pocahontas, and I can see where they got those connections, but really, its its own unique story. At first I thought this movie was going to be an "all guy" movie, but I really enjoyed it. It was actually my Mom who got me to go see it. She told me she really liked it a lot. I don't want to give anything away, But I will let you know that this movie is kind of an anti-human movie. Like, I've never cheered so much against humans before in my entire life, but its for a good cause. I might have changed a few things here and there with the ending, but overall, this movie was spectacular and deserves all the attention it got. Go see it! Its still in some theaters, and I suggest you see it in theaters if you can.
I give it 4 stars!

Then real quick, I wanted to talk about The Last Song. I'm kind of embarrassed to admit that I went to this movie, but my cousins where in town and one just finished the book and they wanted to see it. So we went. I was kind of upset to see this movie come out with Miley Cyrus playing the main girl because I really like Nicholas Sparks books, and I really enjoyed the Notebook Movie, but I can't stand Miley Cyrus. So... when this movie came out, I tried to put that aside and really try to like her, but I just couldn't. I thought her acting was just over the top and too cliche'. But, if you like Miley and like her in her little shows, then maybe it wouldn't bother you. I know my Dad and Grandpa liked her acting.... if that says anything... It was definitely a teenage bopper movie where you find yourself rolling your eyes a lot, but I thought everyone else in the movie did a good job. Lets me just say, without Miley I would give this movie 2 stars. With... i would give it 1. So there you go.

Stay tune for more movies. The next movies on my list to see are:
